Technological advancements, particularly in the fields of digital media, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality, are reshaping human sensibilities in profound ways. These changes occur across various domains, from emotional regulation to sensory processing:

Just like a spell requires precise wand movements, using AI tools effectively involves understanding the proper setup and configuration. Each tool (be it a transcription service like Otter.ai, or a generative AI model like ChatGPT) has its own commands and workflows, which need to be followed to get the right outcome. For example, setting up specific parameters or inputs in an AI tool is akin to the "swish and flick" of a spell.

The workforce of tomorrow is being shaped by advancements in technology and the increasing influence of artificial intelligence (AI). As AI automates routine tasks, the demand for workers with critical thinking skills and the ability to construct and interpret models of complex systems is growing.

Through the lens of the Gaia hypothesis, it becomes clear that AI isn’t a detached phenomenon. It is a child of Earth, a system built on the resources, energy, and ingenuity of Gaia’s interconnected systems.

Everything is made up. We could live in whatever reality we choose, so why do we choose this one?

Our sensibilities help us navigate the world and operate as filters for interaction. In other words, they help us construct meaning through action. Design is a practice focused in shaping human sensibilities. Design is a craft-centric way of planning and structuring engagements with the world.

Work is often seen as a burden. It’s also a global platform for exploitation and greed. But what if we chose to structure work as means to self-expression, cultural exploration, and meaningful discovery?

This project is an attempt to capture the artistic spirit of my great-aunt, Mamie D. Davis, beloved aunt, sister, and veteran of the United States Navy. Mamie lived a long life with her partner Jewel in a modest Nashville home in the area known as Green Hills.

Looking at today’s landscape of products and services there are businesses disrupting every category imaginable. Mattresses, cookware, underwear, pet food, shoe laces, practically every aspect of the modern day living has a modernized brand identity and value proposition, occasionally with a comparable business model.

Designed objects (good and bad) are complex social constructs with their own embedded codes and rules. We must investigate these objects as if they create the architectures of social reality.
